Book Group Expo's Weekend of Authors and Readers Back By Popular Demand!

San Jose, California - November 13, 2006Book Group Expo, the unique weekend event that’s part salon, part marketplace and part marvelous party, will return to the San Jose McEnery Convention Center on June 9 and June 10, 2007. Once again, Book Group Expo is bringing together people who love books—avid readers, acclaimed authors, book club participants, reading group members, up-and-coming local writers, booksellers, book group experts— for a two day convocation where participants can talk, eat, drink, make new friends, create a community, celebrate the arts, and enjoy literary events.

Following on the success of the 2006 Book Group Expo, Producers and Founders Ann Kent and James Reber are looking forward to another gathering of authors, book group members and avid readers.

Amy Tan, best known for her best-seller The Joy Luck Club, and Khaled Hosseini, whose first novel, The Kite Runner has become a runaway best-seller, were both featured authors at the first Book Group Expo. They were joined by more than 70 other authors for a variety of literary salons that allowed readers to join them in creative conversations followed by book signings.

The upbeat, engaging atmosphere of the salons was complemented by an exciting Marketplace that featured an array of vendors and exhibitors, as well as samplings of wine, chocolate, tea, desserts, and hors d’oeuvres. The Marketplace also hosted book signings by the authors following the respective salons.

“The response to our first effort was amazing. Book Group Expo really seemed to resonate with book group and book club members, as well as with readers in general,” states Co-producer Ann Kent. “We anticipate audience growth in 2007, but we are committed to maintaining the warm and friendly atmosphere that our audience truly enjoys.” Adds Reber, “This event worked well for readers, authors and other businesses that want to connect with this community. It was a terrific two day experience.”

Tickets to Book Group Expo will be available for sale to the general public early in the New Year. Special group rates are available to book groups, book clubs, and other groups by contacting Book Group Expo directly (connect@bookgroupexpo.com) at any time. Tickets will be available for individual days as well as for the entire Weekend. Persons interested in learning more about the 2007 Book Group Expo should log onto the Book Group Expo website (www.bookgroupexpo.com) and join the Book Group Expo community through regular up-dates on events and activities.
